HP Takes 3rd At Lake County Invite
Monday, September 7 2015 - Lake County Cross Country Invite
Highland Park took third place at this year’s Lake County Cross Country Invite. Senior Brett Davidson took 3rd place in the 3 mile race (15:37.3) to lead the team. Once again the pack was too far back for the Giants to be able to compete with the top two teams. Junior Charlie Skurie had another strong race finishing in 20th place (16:52.6). Next in for the team was the duo of junior Jonathan Rosenfeld (24th, 17:02.1) and sophomore Nate Amster (25th, 17:03.7). Sophomore Alec Glazier came in next (32nd, 17:25.1) followed by senior Alejandro Gutierrez (37th, 17:38.4). Despite hoping for a closer pack to Davidson, most of the runners in the top 6 for the team had big drops in their times from last year on this course due to the hard work and increased mileage put in over the summer.
Junior Hayden Schott led the Giants in the Open Race taking 4th place (18:33.8).
The entire team knows that much work still needs to be done to reach the goals they made at the start of the summer.
