Team Runs Strong At Harlem Invite
Saturday, September 4 2010 - Harlem InviteThe 2010 HPHS Boys Cross Country Team worked very hard this summer. They put in solid mileage (many of the top guys averaging around 60 or more miles per week) and have been focused, dedicated, and developed a very positive atmosphere for the team. That hard work and the commitment to the training program showed at the Harlem Invite. The team had 7 runners with times faster then our fastest time at this same meet last season!
The team was once again led by senior Ari Rothschild. He ran an outstanding time of 15:37 to win the senior 2.85 mile race. HP placed 6 runners in the top 9 of the senior race: Jordan Atkins (3rd 16:23), David Britten (4th 16:29), Quinn McAleer (7th 17:23), Will Chukerman (8th 17:25), and Brad Mills (9th 17:27).
In the junior 2.85 mile race HP placed 4 runners in the top 9 including two sophomores that we ran up so that they could run the longer distance: Ian Jacobs (16:20 4th), Jonah Hanig (soph 16:24 6th), Ari Feldman (16:25 7th), and Emmett Smith (soph 16:27 9th).
The frosh-soph were also very solid with 5 freshmen finishing in the top 20 for the 2.45 mile race : Liam Carter (15:05 9th), Ari Bell (15:13 12th), James Rector (15:19 14th), Jeremy Bloom (15:54 18th), and Griffin Bojan (15:56 20th).
The season is off to a good start, but there is much work to still be done.
Keep working hard and make sure to be doing all of the little things to make sure the team continues to move in the right direction with the right attitude!
