2018 HPHS Boys Track & Field Coaching Staff

The 2018 HPHS Boys Track & Field coaching staff has been finalized with several new additions.
Returning Coaches-
Head Coach:
Steve Buti will be in his 14th year of coaching the distance runners at HP. This will be his 3rd year as Head Track & Field Coach. He is also the Head Boys Cross Country Coach.
Assistant Coaches:
Matt Downey will once again be the throws coach. He graduated from HPHS in 2008 where he competed in football and track & field. Coach Downey started volunteer coaching in 2009. He as been an Assistant Coach since 2011.
Mike Czajkowski has been assistant coach for cross country at HP the past 3 years and this will be his 5th year as an assistant for the track & field team. He has been working with the sprinters. This year he will assist more with the distance runners. As our only in house coach, he may at times be assisting to get other workouts started as some of our coaching staff will be arriving a bit later some days.
Amanda Caines has been coaching the jumpers since 2016. She was an All-State Triple Jumper at Evanston High School and competed in track & field at the University of Kansas. She is the daughter of the legendary Coach Kevin Caines (he coached track & field and cross country at HP for 31 years!)
New Assistant Coaches-
Torion Watson graduated from HPHS in 1994. He was a member of the football and track & field teams at HP. He also played football in college. He will assist with the jumpers this season. Coach Watson has coaching experience at Niles North High School in track & field, football, and even cross country. He has coached football at the collegiate level as well. He also has been a personal trainer.
John Daniel is our new pole vault coach. He has competed in the pole vault for 10 years including a successful career at Trine University. Coach Daniel is USATF Level I Coach Certified. He will also be coaching pole vault with the HP girls team.
Mark Morgan will be our new sprints and hurdles coach. He comes to us with 22 years of coaching experience. He has coached track & field and football along with a few years coaching wrestling. This includes coaching at area schools including Niles West and Waukegan High Schools. Coach Morgan is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and is a USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sports Performance Coach.
