2011 24 Hour Run
Saturday, January 1 2011 - 24 Hour RunEach year, the Highland Park High School Boy’s and Girls Track Teams
combine their efforts to raise as much money as possible to contribute
to Charity Drive. The 24 Hour Run is a 24-hour relay race in which
members of the track team take turns running 1 mile at a time. The
event takes place on HPHS’s indoor track for 24 hours starting at 4:00
pm on February 4th and concluding at 4:00 pm on February 5th. After
only 5 years, the 24 Hour Run has raised in excess of $100,000. Our
goal is to cover over 200 miles during the 24 hours of the relay and
raise over $25,000.
This year, the students of Highland Park High School, have chosen the Saving Tiny Hearts Society. The Saving tiny Hearts Society’s mission is to raise money for grossly under-funded, lifesaving grass roots research of congenital heart defects (CHD's). This seed funding acts as a bridge for this research to millions of dollars of extramural funding from the National Institute of Health (NIH) or other outside funding. CHD's are America’s #1 birth defect affecting over 40,000 babies every year!
