Several Near Record Performances At First Meet

Saturday, February 27 2016 - Glenbrook North vs Highland Park and Northside

The 2016 Track & Field season opened with our meet at the Glenbrook North High School Fieldhouse.   The team had several notable performances along with many things that need to be corrected and improved.

The distance runners had a nice pack in the 1600 with 6 guys going 5:01 or better.  They were led by freshmen Jose Reyes.   He ran a 4:46.0 to just miss the HP indoor freshmen record for the event by .5 seconds!

Senior Ryan Kriozere just missed two school records!  He was .2 away from the school record in the 55 Meter High Hurdles with a 7.7 and .1 away from the 55 Meter Low Hurdles record of 7.3.

The Shot Put crew had a strong day with several PRs being thrown.   Senior Tucker Thompson threw 43’6” for a huge PR to lead the way.  Sophomore Zach Auerbach also had a big throw with a 39’.5” toss.   The throwers have put in a tremendous amount of work and are looking to have a breakthrough season as a unit.

Freshmen Jack Casey led the way in the High Jump for HP with a 5’2” clearance while freshmen Ben Kirsch cleared 8’6” to lead the vaulters while two of our top returning vaulters are recovering from injuries.

The 4X400s need much improvement as the times will need to drop to have a strong relay.   The distance runners stepped up and had the four fastest splits for HP in this meet.

There is a great deal of hard work that needs to be done for everyone on the team.   We have the possibility to be a great team if we can get everyone healthy and we continue to get stronger and progress our training.
